The newest addition to the Wheelyboat fleet, the Mk IV is the largest Wheelyboat to date accommodating up to 12 adults. It is particularly suited for use as a ferry or trip boat and is quite at home on inshore waters being extremely buoyant and stable. Its drive-from-wheelchair console enables disabled people to take the helm. Bristol Sailability, which operates the first Mk IV supplied, use theirs to provide power boating tuition to disabled people enabling them to obtain RYA power boating certificates.
Mk IV Wheelyboats are constructed from high density polyethylene and carbon composite giving high strength and flexibility. It is also virtually maintenance free. They are built to order and can be equipped with a comprehensive range of optional extras including canopies of various designs, A frame, navigation lights, sound system, electric anchor windlass, additional lockers, trailer, etc.
The deck incorporates wheelchair anchorage rails and individual handrails can be supplied for more independent wheelchair users who prefer not to have their wheelchairs secured to the deck. Non-wheelchair users sit on bench seats fitted to the lateral buoyancy tanks. Individual seats fixed to the anchorage rails can be supplied if required.
Max output is 90hp. The design gives good planing performance even with smaller engines, reducing fuel consumption. For applications on inland waterways, e.g. Norfolk Broads, the Mk IV can be powered by an electric outboard.
